Angie Harmon's new role in the TNT drama 'Rizzoli & Isles' is a long way from where she saw herself heading before the script landed on her lap a few months ago. The former 'LAW & ORDER' star who is married to ex pro football star Jason Sehorn admits she was ready to pack up and move away from Hollywood to concentrate on her family life.
Harmon has three daughters with husband Jason and was on the verge of packing up for the quiet life, she told the New York Daily News, "Right when I'd made my decision to go, this script was literally on my doorstep the next day.
"I've always said if I'm going back to television, it's going to be on cable, because you have so much more creative freedom. You can be scarier, you can be sexier, you can be funnier, and you shoot five months a year so the rest of the time you can be a mommy."
Rizzoli & Isles is the story of a female detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) and a medical examiner Maura Isles played by Sasha Alexander who join forces to fight crime on the streets of Chicago. The pair are from the opposite ends of the social spectrum with Isles always being impeccably dressed and Rizzoli more at home in the basketball court than anywhere else. In spite of their difference the pair become the best of friends and find themselves working together to bring down the criminal underworld of Chicago.
The TNT drama also stars Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos) as Rizzoli's over protective mother Angela and Dawsons Creek's Jordan Bridges as her Patrol Cop brother who is striving to join his sister as a detective.
