Angelina Jolie was reportedly furious that Jim Rash and his Descendants co-writers decided to mock her onstage at this year's Oscars ceremony (February 26, 2012). The Changeling actress' choice of Versace Atelier dress, with its daring thigh-high split caused some consternation in itself. And Angelina's insistence on striking a series of slightly awkward looking poses throughout the evening brought more covert merriment to those gathered (and, of course, a host of online Twitter commentators).
When Jolie announced that The Descendants writers had won the prize for Best Screenplay (adaptation), Jim Rash, Alexander Payne and Nat Faxon took to the stage, with Jim Rash mimicking Angelina's hand-on-hip, head thrown back, right leg stuck out pose. Yesterday (February 27, 2012), Chicago Sun-Times reported that Angelina Jolie demanded to know who Jim Rash was; evidently irritated by his decision to mock her. She reportedly snapped "Who is that guy" when she left the stage after presenting the award. When someone explained who Jim was (co-star of the NBC sitcom 'Community' and veteran comic) their source said "She was still pretty steamed but seemed to calm down quickly." Presumably, she will have been further irritated upon learning that her right leg now seems to have its own Twitter page, with over 28,000 followers.
This year's Oscars ceremony wasn't the first time that Angelina's bizarre behavior has created a flurry of excited column inches on awards night. In 2000, the year that she won the Best Supporting Actress gong for her role in Girl, Interrupted, she shocked onlookers by kissing her brother rather passionately on the lips. When she took to the stage she said "I am so in love with my brother right now" and later added "I have nothing without you," raising a few eyebrows in the process.
