Overseas, Ang Lee's The Life of Pi, continued to sail on as the No. 1 film, even as it dropped out of the top ten domestically. It earned an additional $60.1 million to push its foreign total past the $300-million mark to $301.9 million. It has taken in $91.1 million domestically, bringing its worldwide total to $393 million. In second place was The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey with $57.1 million. That raised its overseas total to $561 million and its worldwide total to $824.8 million. A distant third was the Tom Cruise thriller Jack Reader, which grossed $22.4 million for an overseas total of $55.6 million.
