Andy Williams has been eliminated from The X Factor after last night's show saw him voted into the bottom two for the first time.
The 22-year-old found himself forced into a sing-off to save his place in the show after a lacklustre version of Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars was slammed by the judging panel.
The public vote had produced a shock in sending popular teacher Beverley Trotman into the bottom two, after a weak rendition of James Blunt's You're Beautiful.
But a second chance was not enough for the Welshman, and three of the four judges selected him as the latest hopeful to be booted off the X Factor.
Following Andy's performance, judge Louis Walsh said: "I think this is the best song choice for you so far but there's something missing. You're a great singer... but you're not a winner."
And fellow judge Simon Cowell also pulled no punches, saying: "I think that was like eating caviar with salad cream. The song is caviar, but your vocal didn't work on the song."
Andy's mentor on the series Dannii Minogue defended her contestant, saying: "The other three judges are so out of touch they don't what they're talking about," to which Louis retorted: "We're having hits in the charts you're not!"
The remaining contestants are to tackle disco songs on next week's show.
