Andy Warhol muse and one-time VELVET UNDERGROUND star Nico is to have her amazing life turned into a new movie.

Scottish director David Mackenzie, who created a storm of controversy with his NC-17-rated Young Adam movie, which starred Ewan McGregor, will take charge of the new biopic.

The film will be based on James Young's book NICO: THE END.

Nico appeared in Federico Fellini's cult 1960 film La Dolce Vita and was chosen by Warhol to sing with the Velvet Underground. Heroin addiction took over her life, however, and she died in 1988 in a bicycle accident.
