The sight of Samberg and co. settling back into making expanding their discography was enough for fans but when Pharrell Williams dropped by to contribute his own ode to hugging, social media went into meltdown.

'American Hustle' was the night's big winner, with three major wins, but there were surprises elsewhere as even Leonardo DiCaprio won an award!
The 2014 Golden Globes came and went on Sunday, 12 January night as the stars of Hollywood gathered for the first real awards showcase of the year. The event didn't let down, with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler delivering the laughs throughout the event and with individual stars using their time in the spotlight to grand effect, resulting in a night to remember.
American Hustle was the night's big winner
The two top-contested awards, Best Motion Picture for Drama and for Musical or Comedy, were awarded to the early favourites and the two titles looking most likely to sweep up over the course of awards season: 12 Years A Slave and America Hustle.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 dominated the US weekend Box Office, raking in over $34 million.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, despite receiving mixed reviews, has gained over $34 million at the US weekend Box Office. The film was released on Friday (27th September), and received mixed, although generally positive reviews. Some critics described the film as "wildly cute" and "colourful" (Miriam Bale, New York Times), but many felt the film lack originality particularly the "the original film's intelligence" (Sean O'Connell, Washington Post).
Neil Patrick Harris provides the voice for Steve, Flint Lockwood's monkey.
However, such comments do not appear to have discouraged many from seeing the second instalment in the Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs franchise, quite the contrary as the film beat off its competition by at least $20 million. The other films in the Box Office are more equally spread, figures wise, with Prisoners (down from No.1 last week) and Rush (up from No.38) each gaining $10 million.

Good but not great... but has potential
There isn’t much room for error with sitcoms these days. Moments after their air, trigger-happy, sometimes-paid critics have their say, lamenting or eulogising the choices made. Brooklyn Nine-Nine takes a familiar format and blends it up into a comedy, but what are the results?
Andy Samberg is the maverick cop
Before it hit, the press were hailing the cop comedy (copedy?) as one of the most promising shows, not just of Fox’s current slate, but of any network’s. Combining the well-trodden path of procedural cop dramas with the new-age city-dwelling humour of shows like Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine seems to have tapped into a rich vein of laughs.
Is Jason Sudeikis about to follow in the footsteps of Tina Fey, Chevy Chase and Mike Myers?
Jason Sudeikis, the most high profile member of the Saturday Night Live cast, has announced he will not be returning to the show in the fall. Sudeikis is following comedians Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Seth Meyers and Kristen Wiig out of the long-running show, leaving NBC bosses with a dilemma on their hands as they seek to keep the show relevant, popular and most of all funny for its 39th season.
Sudeikis, who has worked on the show for 10 years, announced the news during a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman,
"Yeah, I'm going to leave. Yeah, I'm not coming back next fall." he told the veteran host, to a bewildered audience. Letterman had apparently not heard of the departure and began asking the actor questions about life working on the show, with the 37-year-old dropping the bombshell shortly after.

Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg of comedy band The Lonely Island discuss their new album 'The Wack Album' which features celebrity collaborations with Hugh Jackman, Kristen Wiig, Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar.
Fox announces its fall lineup.
Fox has announced a large chunk of the shows that will fill next season’s roster and there is certainly a lot to look forward to. The channel will air comedies, created by big names in the business, such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, brought to you by the producers of The Office Dan Goor and Michael Schur. On top of this, it will star SNL’s own Andy Samberg.
There’s a lot more coming on the comedy front though, such as Dads ¬– a sitcom about a pair of childhood friends (played by Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi), whose dads move in with them. And if it sounds like your typical sitcom fodder at first, take a moment to note that Family Guy creator and recent controversial Oscar host Seth McFarlane will take the wheel on that one, so it has a chance of not being a complete letdown.
Last on the comedy roster Surviving Jack, starring Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’s Christopher Meloni as a dad in ‘90s SoCal. It is based on Justin Halpern’s semi-autobiographical book, I Suck at Girls.”

Andy Samberg is engaged to respected harpist Joanna Newsom
Funnyman Andy Samberg is ready to settle down with his musician girlfriend Joanna Newsom, after asking her to marry him. A representative for the comedian confirmed to Us Weekly magazine that Newsom accepted the recent proposal, five years after the couple started dating.
It's an oddball romance at first glance, though Samberg was smitten with the 31-year-old musician even before they met. "He liked her music and would go to her shows," a pal revealed last year. "He had the biggest crush on her." Newsom, an American harpist, pianist, vocalist and songwriters, first gained prominence with her sophomore record 'Ys' - often considered among the greatest albums of the 2000s. Despite this, it reached just No.134 on the Billboard 200 and No.41 on the UK Albums chart.
One of the world's most respected musicians, Newsom is equally enamoured by her beau's musical prowess. "She respects what he does with his songs," the source added, referring to Samberg's quirky tracks with comedy troupe Lonely Island. "She's so proud of everything that he has accomplished."

What happens when you have a low key wedding, unbeknown to the global press until the week of ceremony? The story runs for weeks and weeks, that’s what. Well, it does when you’re Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, anyway.
The latest morsel to be extracted from their Italian nuptials is the big reveal of Biel’s wedding dress- a custom-made, pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture number. The Los Angeles Times reports a news release, which described it as a "haute couture strapless gown of silk mousseline and silk organza with a light pink floral motif and ruffles" as well as a veil containing Biel's heirloom pearls. Pictures of the gown are plastered all over People magazine, a privilege they were reported to pay $300,000 for. The pair welcomed 100 guests, including close friends Jimmy Fallon, Andy Samberg, Timbaland and Biel's 7th Heaven costar Beverley Mitchell, to the Borgo Egnazia resort in southern Italy for a week-long wedding celebration. "It was a lot to ask of them to travel, so we figured we'd give our guests a good party!" says Timberlake.
Justin, given his prodigious talents, decided to serenade his new wife, in what can only be described as a really cheesy sounding wedding. She probably loved it though. "It was an original piece I wrote specifically for the evening and for her," says Timberlake.
In his early teens, the immature and irresponsible Donny Berger struck up a brief romance with his school teacher resulting in her pregnancy. When she is jailed for having a sexual relationship with a minor, Donny is forced to raise the child (who he names Han Solo) until Hans' eighteenth birthday. Twelve years later, Donny owes $43,000 to the IRS which he must pay to avoid three years in jail. He recognises Han Solo in a magazine under the new name of Todd Peterson and reads that he is the one of the youngest hedge fund managers in the financial industry and is engaged to be married. Todd's world is turned upside down when his father (who he had attempted to erase from his life completely) turns up the day before his wedding wanting to spend quality time with his son, while really seeking help with his debt problem. The reunion forces Donny to accept the consequences of his terrible parenting.

Like a comically deranged Twilight Zone episode, this colourful animated feature underscores its fantastical story with some intriguingly serious issues. But it never gets preachy, and a stream of warped humour will keep adults chuckling all the way through.
Geeky inventor Flint (voiced by Hader) has finally created something that will make him famous: a machine that makes food from water. When it's inadvertently catapulted into the clouds, it starts raining cheeseburgers, much to everyone's delight. Now famous, he remotely programmes the machine to rain everything from ice cream to spaghetti and meatballs. While Flint's mono-browed dad (Caan) doesn't really get him, the greedy mayor (Campbell) wants a piece of his success. Meanwhile, Flint meets weather reporter Sam (Faris), who might actually understand him.
Filmmakers Lord and Miller somehow manage to keep the film utterly silly, with outrageous visual flourishes and zany comical asides, while maintaining a sharp intelligence beneath the surface. As a result, grown-ups will probably find the film funnier than kids, who will be entranced by the visual antics and miss the sophisticated wit. And they quietly hide the serious subtext as well, including a knowing look at celebrity and pointed comments on how tricky it is for people to truly communicate.
But all of this is mere icing on the cake, as it were, for a film that's raucous, nonstop fun. Images of food falling from the sky are pure dreamlike fantasy, especially when Flint's machine overheats and produces oversized culinary delights that look utterly delicious even as they flatten the houses they land on. Of course, this gives the screenwriters plenty of running gags and punning opportunities, which the talented vocal cast run wild with.
Even side characters like Mr T's supercop and Bratt's Guatemalan cameraman get terrific moments along the way, while Flint's relationship with his dad has a surprising resonance. And along the way, there are some superb sequences that combine goofy humour with awkward emotion plus a hint of unhinged weirdness (such as the Jell-O palace). And as global chaos threatens to erupt, along with Mt Leftovers, the film develops into a hysterical disaster movie satire that's brilliantly animated and, for once, makes full use of 3D to throw everything right into our faces.
Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is a mild-mannered Los Angeles real estate agent, and his girl is Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones). They have been dating for less than a year, but are madly in love. As the movie opens, Peter proposes, and Zooey accepts. Immediately, she calls her friends to celebrate. This makes Peter realize that he has no buddies to call; he doesn't even have anyone to be his best man.

When an expensive space probe goes missing, a surly Senator (voice of Stanley Tucci) with a key to NASA's funding wants it found. It's decided that, instead of a manned mission, a trio of chimps will be sent to fetch it. They include the macho Titan (Patrick Warburton), the level headed Luna (Cheryl Hines), and in a perfect PR move, the great grandson of the first ape-stronaut ever, Ham III (Andy Samberg). One wormhole later, our hirsute heroes find themselves on a distant alien planet ruled by the evil dictator Zartog (Jeff Daniels). He is using the lost Earth satellite to control his unhappy minions. It's up to the primates to find a way of defeating the villain and getting back home before it's too late.

But the appeal of Hot Rod is simpler than viral internet paradigm shifts: it is a very silly movie with a nature equal parts good and strange. Samberg plays Rod, who we infer from other characters to be a twentysomething, but who based on demeanor, ambition, and Samberg's crooked, sometimes crazed smile may be as young as 12. Rod's goal of becoming a much-loved, professional, stand-alone stuntman is such a deliberate anachronism that it's almost completely original, if not for the faintly memorable existence of Evel Knieval -- an existence that gives Rod a lot of hope (his deceased father's profession is explained as more or less Knieval's understudy).
