The BBC's Sunday-afternoon live coverage of Andy Murray's straight-sets victory over Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon averaged 12.1 million viewers, representing 73-percent of the Sunday-afternoon viewership in the U.K. (In Scotland, Murray's home country, 90 percent of those watching TV on Sunday were tuned in to the BBC telecast.) Peaking at 17.3 million, it was easily the most-watched telecast of 2013 and far exceeded the previous record-holder for 2013, an edition of Britain's Got Talent, which peaked at 13.1 million. The BBC said that the telecast drew the most viewers for a Wimbledon final since 1990. Last year's telecast, in which Roger Federer defeated Murray averaged 11.4 million viewers, peaking with 16.9 million.
