Towards the end of 2016, the series delivered one of its most hard-hitting episodes with the season 7 premiere when fan-favourite characters Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) were killed off by the series' new Big Bad, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). [Spoiler Alert!] Fast-forward to today, and last night's finale saw yet another great character killed off, as Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) took her fate into her own hands and we saw her morph into a Walker right in front of our eyes.

Thank You, No Thank You! The Latest Death On 'The Walking Dead' Breaks Hearts [Spoilers]

Andrew Lincoln Seth Gilliam Ethan Embry Steven Yeun Michael Traynor

Wow. So the creators of 'The Walking Dead' really know how to break our hearts. Regular viewers of the never-ending zombie series will be used to grieving by now, but the latest death has proved to be way too much for some fans.

Andrew Lincoln in The Walking DeadRick faces ever more difficult hurdles in this season's 'The Walking Dead'

We're only three episodes into 'The Walking Dead' season six, and already one of the best characters has seemingly been killed off. While everyone was hoping that the reckless and seriously dodgy Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) would be the next to bite the dust, producers have taken the story completely the other way and wiped off one of the only remaining members of the original cast. We can only hope that we haven't seen the last of him.

The Walking Dead Season 5 Is So Disturbing, Lauren Cohen Thinks Stuff Might Get Cut

Andrew Lincoln Norman Reedus The Walking Dead

After four seasons of some pretty intense zombie action, The Walking Dead enters its fifth this October. And according to some of the stars of the show, The Walking Dead Season 5 opens with some NSFTV stuff.

"This episode is so disturbing," said actress Lauren Cohan whose character Maggie Greene spent the majority of season 4 fighting to find her husband, Glen. "Some of the the stuff they shot yesterday, I don't know if it'll make it to TV,” she added.

AMC Give Us A 'Walking Dead' Season 5 Peek [Photo]

The Walking Dead Andrew Lincoln

The Walking Dead season 4 ended in high-octane fashion: Rick, Daryl, Michonne and Carl found Terminus but were soon wise to eerie feeling that surrounded it. A gun fight followed, and the subsequent dance that ensued saw the gang reunited, albeit locked up in a metal box.

Rick Grimes Walking Dead

In the photo, it looks as though Rick might be opening said metal box with a view to following through with his end-of-season words: “They’re screwing with the wrong people.” It was a solid end to a weird season, but one can’t help but thinking the whole ‘Rick’s back’ storyline has been done before, when he recovered from the loss of his wife.

'The Walking Dead' With No Zombies...What A Great Idea!

Andrew Lincoln Frank Darabont

Certain shows rely on one very specific aspect to make them what they are. Breaking Bad needed Walt to establish a meth empire, Buffy the Vampire Slayer needed a few vampires for her to slay, Orange is the New Black sort of needs to be set in a prison (a sewing club doesn't have quite the same lure), but The Walking Dead? Nah, that should be fine with no zombies. Oh, hang on.

The Walking Dead Zombies Sure, The Walking Dead would have been just as successful if there were no zombies in it

So, it turns out that an NBC exec actually vetoed the project, well, because, he wasn’t quite sure if the show needed zombies. The Walking Dead creators Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman explained to Jim Rash on Sundance’s The Writer’s Room: “[The Walking Dead] actually almost did almost get made at NBC. It didn’t get made when the pilot was turned in, the famous story is one of the executives said, ‘This is awesome. I really love this . Does it have to have zombies in it?’”

'Walking Dead Season 5' Poster Revealed: Survive. Just Survive

Andrew Lincoln The Walking Dead Norman Reedus

For those of you that watched the season 4 finale of The Walking Dead on Sunday night (Sunday, March 30) will know that Rick will do almost anything to survive, and that includes biting a man’s neck off. And survival is a motif continued by the first poster for season 5, which features Rick crouching solemnly, holding a gun; the word “survive” emblazoned above him. You can view it right here on AMC's Walking Dead Facebook page.

The Walking Dead Season 4"Where did you get the watch!?" bellows Rick as he tries to get to the bottom of what's happening at Terminus

It brings us back full circle to the pilot episode and the first season in general, when ideas on the zombie apocalypse were first forming and the walkers seemed like a genuine threat, even attacking alone or in pairs. Nowadays, a single walker doesn’t represent much of a problem for our survivors, but Rick’s goals were simple: find his family, keep them alive. Survival was key.

Does Anyone Else Think 'The Walking Dead' Is A Bit Rubbish Now?

Andrew Lincoln Danai Gurira Scott Wilson The Walking Dead

AMC’s ratings behemoth The Walking Dead returned to American TV screens on Sunday night (Feb 9th) and last night on FOX for British viewers. We re-join zombie dystopia after the devastating battle that left the prison decimated, our beloved survivors scattered, and a few key characters dead or missing.

Carl The Walking DeadLet's just kill Carl off and be done with it

The mid-season premiere focused on Rick Grimes and his son Carl as they scavenge for supplies in a dilapidated town, which, surprisingly – considering it’s walking distance from the prison - is full of nourishing goodies like a 112-ounce can of chocolate pudding. This is as good a time as any for me to list the reasons why The Walking Dead isn’t very good any more:

The Walking Dead Season 4 Premiere: Safety Is History

Andrew Lincoln Danai Gurira Chandler Riggs

Can you hear that? It’s the sound of all the best shows coming back on TV! Also probably zombies, since The Walking Dead returned to AMC last night. The episode was mostly focused on Rick, Carl and Michonne, who, by the way, are now reunited in one mini-team. Insert obligatory spoiler warning here.

The “team” part didn’t really apply though, since Carl was faced with the decision of killing his maybe-infected father, or possibly becoming his first meal. And while we’ve seen him tough it out and actually shoot another parent in the head, he broke down and just couldn’t do it to Rick. So we know who Carl’s favorite parent is. Beyond that, he spent most of the episode crying and/or almost getting killed, but we’ll let that one slide, since he is just a teenager. Going through puberty and a zombie apocalypse at the same time must be tough.

Chandler Riggs, The Walking Dead Still
Last season we saw Carl handle the situation better than most, but it's finally getting to him in this episode.

'Walking Dead' Mid-Season Opener: New Yorkers Subjected To Zombie Prank [Video]

Andrew Lincoln Chandler Riggs The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is back this Sunday, so we’ll be able to see Rick Grimes stab zombies in the head with a shiv once more while his son walks about, looking moody, constantly trying to prove himself.

The Walking DeadChandler Riggs' Carl is not really fussed by zombies any more - not even looking

To celebrate this (market this), AMC have put some zombies under a subway grate to scare the bejeezus out of unsuspecting New Yorkers. Manhattan's Union Square was infested with zombie extras, reaching out to grab the ankles of commuters, tourists, homeless people and joggers.

'Game Of Thrones' Crowned Most Torrented Show Of 2013

Kit Harington Sean Bean Emilia Clarke Bryan Cranston Vince Gilligan Andrew Lincoln

Game of Thrones is officially the most illegally downloaded series once again, as the hit HBO drama was named the most pirated television series of 2013 by piracy site TorrentFreak. Taking into account the amount of downloads amassed through BitTorrent over the past twelve months, the television adaption of George RR. Martin's stories has taken home the crown of 'Most Torrented Show' for the second year running.

Kit Harington
You know nothing about the illegal distribution of TV programmes, Jon Snow

With 5.9 million downloads via BitTorrent alone, that means that season three of the hit series was watched illegally more times than it was through legal means. The season garnered an average of 5.5 million viewers in the US legally, with most illegal downloads coming in the first week after the show initially aired on HBO, taking the overall tally of the show's illegal viewers past the legal tally. The poll does not take into account downloads from other torrent sites, such as The Pirate Bay or Kickass Torrents, which probably means that the overall figure for illegally downloaded episode is even higher than the report states.

Walking Dead Creator Frank Darabont Suing AMC Over Profits Dispute

Andrew Lincoln Frank Darabont

Frank Darabont has filed a lawsuit against entertainment company AMC Networks after he claims that he was cheated out of tens of millions of dollars in profits. Darabont, the creator of hit AMC zombie drama The Walking Dead, has alleged that AMC breached his contract in not paying him the profits owed. Since Darabont was ditched from the show in 2011, The Walking Dead has gone on to be one of the most popular shows on television.

'The Walking Dead' Creator Frank Darabont Goes Up Against AMC To Claim Profits.

Despite this runaway success, Darabont has yet to receive any money as a participant in the profits. Yesterday (17th Dec.), Darabont and his agency CAA filed a lawsuit against AMC, accusing the network in "self dealing" by setting an "an unconscionably low license fee formula" for the series it also produces as well as employing questionable accounting practices thus depriving profit participants of compensation, according to Deadline.

'The Walking Dead' Producer Explains What's Ahead Following Explosive Midseason Finale

Andrew Lincoln Norman Reedus David Morrissey

The Walking Dead came to a temporary close on Sunday, 1 December, night when the midseason finale aired. There was tension, excitement and bloodshed aplenty, as [SPOILER] The Governor met his grizzly end at Michonne's blade and Lilly's gun. But his push on to the prison didn't end in complete failure, as the damage caused by his attack forced Rick and co. from the safety of the prison and into the unknown wilderness.

The Walking Dead
Things will be very different when the show returns in February

The cliffhanger ending to the most recent episode will have fans of the show begging for more, but those in need of a Walking Dead fix will have to wait until the next year for the show to return. Whilst you wait, series executive producer Robert Kirkman has spoken with The Hollywood Reporter about what you might expect to see next, as he explained where the show is heading now that the possibilities have been thrown wide open with The Governor's death and the abandonment of the prison.

'The Walking Dead' Episode Recap: 'Dead Weight,' Episode Seven, Season Four

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln

Much like the previous episode of The Walking Dead, 'Dead Weight' was particularly concerned with The Governor more than it was our flu-battling prison-based main contenders, and really that didn't bother us one bit, as the sinister Gov. makes his way towards the prison camp in his own sweet time.

The Walking Dead
What will The Governor have lined up for the main contenders

With his 'new family' in tow, the last episode picked up where we left him and Megan, with ex-crony Martinez saving them from a ditch and impending zombie hoard. Martinez leads the two back to his camp, the camp which he now leads and is willing to allow The Governor in, providing he accompanies him and some other campers on a scavenging trip first. The eye-patch wearing villain agrees and we meet a few more happy campers, Mitch and Pete, and with Megan and her mother Lily and aunt Tara safely at the camp, the four men go out looking for supplies.

The Governor's Got A New Gang: 'The Walking Dead' Season 4, Episode 6 Recap

David Morrissey Andrew Lincoln

As we found out last week, with our parting glance at the episode, The Governor is back! The Walking Dead was a flashback episode this week though, so we don't know what he might be doing stood outside the prison for now, but at least we got a bit of closure on what happened between now and his mass slaughter of his followers at Woodbury at the end of last season.

The Walking Dead
It was 'The Governor Show' this week

We flash back a couple of months to the point when the Governor has just slaughtered a number of his townsfolk, and things pick up just after the killings. With his two henchmen by his side, Martinez and Shumpert, the three drive up in to the woods and set up a small camp to regroup. The Gov. seems distraught as he sits by the burning fire, too distraught to even kill a walker that managed to wander into the camp fire. As he wakes up the next morning, he has even more reason to be distraught, finding the campsite deserted, with Martinez and Shumpert having taken off with the truck, leaving him to fend for himself.

Where Next For 'The Walking Dead' Now That HE'S Back?

Andrew Lincoln David Morrissey

The latest episode of Walking Dead – Internment – was a dark, and hopefully season-defining moment for the already deeply disturbing zombie drama. With the fever spreading to deathly consequences, two-fold given the after-life state that consumes its victims, we were wondering how things could get worse. Enter The Governor.

The Walking DeadRick Grimes couldn't keep these guys out for long

“We like to keep people guessing and he definitely will return this season,” Kirkman said before Internment hit AMC on November 10th. “Just when you think things are getting to a breaking point, that’s when The Governor layer will be thrown in to make things that much more deadly and dangerous. It’s going to be a really big, memorable moment in the show." (The Hollywood Reporter.)
