The latest teaser for the upcoming superhero summer smash The Amazing Spider Man has surfaced online, offering a whopping 4 minutes worth of sneak peak at the franchise reboot.
Andrew Garfield, who replaces Tobey Maguire as the latest incarnation of Spiderman/Peter Parker, is seen removing his mask in the clip, encouraging a frightened child to put it on. He tells the tentative child that by wearing the mask he will become strong as the two hang precociously from a flaming car dangling from a bridge.
The trailer also gives us our first proper glimpse of Spidey's nemesis Dr Curt Connors aka The Lizard, who is played by Brit actor Rhys Ifans. Ifans is not the only Brit involved in the filming of course, as Garfield was raised in England as a boy. Audiences are treated to their first glimpse of the two going head to head, as Spidey and his reptilian enemy battle on top of Manhattan rooftops and even underwater in the encompassing preview of Marc Webb's reboot of the franchise.
Parker's estranged parents also feature in the clip as tensions heat up between the arachnid-like hero and George Stacy, played by Denis Leary, who as well as being a senior official within the NYPD also happens to be the father of Parker's love interest Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter yesterday, the film will premiere first in India on June 29, four days before the film opens in UK and US cinemas on July 3.
