Andre 3000 has revealed there were plans of an Outkast and A Tribe Called Quest joint album prior to Phife Dawg's death.
The A Tribe Called Quest star, real name Malik Taylor, passed away on 22 March (16) aged 45 from complications related to diabetes, and on Tuesday (05Apr16), many of the late rapper's friends gathered for a memorial service at New York's Apollo Theater.
Among the attendees was Outkast's Andre 3000, who revealed during the event that there were talks to join forces with his rap duo and Phife's veteran group before Phife's passing.
According to Rolling Stone, Andre told the crowd, "I'm going to say some interesting news and some disappointing news at the same time. About a year or two ago, we were talking about doing a Tribe Called Quest and Outkast album. Yeah. For whatever reason, it did not happen.

The former Outkast rapper/singer landed in Los Angeles on Friday night (29Jan16) and ordered an Uber Pool car instead of a single-person ride from the online cab service.
As a result, he discovered he was on a list of multiple pick-ups.
Sources tell TMZ.com another woman got into the car with the star, and after some small talk they hit it off, even discovering that they had lived in the same place.

Big Boi Has Hinted An Outkast Biopic Could Be In The Works After The Success Of N.w.a. Film Straight Outta Compton.
Big Boi replied, "Me and 'Dre were just discussing this over Labor Day. Stay tuned. - Big (sic)."
The duo has not released an album since 2006, but performed at more than 40 festivals across the world last year (14) to celebrate Outkast's 20th anniversary.

Rapper-turned-actor Andre 3000 Is Reuniting With Producer/director John Ridley To Star In U.s. Tv Drama American Crime.
The OutKast star, real name Andre Benjamin, will play architect Michael Lacroix, opposite Regina King as his wife, Terri, in the upcoming second season of the anthology series, which will focus on a scandal involving the couple's son at a top private school.
The project will be Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave screenwriter Ridley's second with Benjamin after working together on recent Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All Is by My Side.
A statement released by Ridley reads: "Personally, I couldn’t be more excited than to work again with Andre. He is an amazing individual, a true artist, and All is by My Side is one of the reasons I was given the reins on American Crime.
