Andie MacDowell, the American actress and model, is returning to television to star in the Hallmark Channel's first prime-time series. The 54-year-old will star in 'Cedar Cove' - a two hour pilot airing later this year, to be followed by a 13 episode drama that is expected to premiere in early 2013, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The series is based on the book series by Debbie Macomber, and will feature MacDowell as court Judge Olivia Lockhart. Though it's not considered a major project for the actress, the Hallmark Channel has had past success with Macomber's original movies 'Mrs. Miracle', 'Call Me Mrs. Miracle' and 'Trading Christmas', which all performed well for the network. Production on the movie pilot for 'Cedar Cove' will start in early June, with MacDowell also set to co-star in ABC Family's 'June by Design', which is currently wrapping up production on the second half of the first season.
MacDowell - best known for her turns in 'Groundhog Day' and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' - starred in the 'Footloose' reboot in 2011, as well as 'Monte Carlo', with SELENA GOMEZ.
