Amy Winehouse 's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil is fighting for his life in hospital. Blake was put into an induced coma after he was rushed to hospital with multiple organ failure, after what appears to have been a drink and drug binge. Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse has urged his daughter's fans to pray for Blake, the UK Press Association reports. It's a generous move by Mitch, who has been vocal of his disapproval of the man.
According to the report, Blake returned home to his girlfriend - who is also the mother to his 15 month-old son - after a night out drinking, His girlfriend, Sarah Aspin, has said that she believes he may have taken an illegal substance, in addition to the alcohol that he had consumed. He is said to have returned home drunk and slurring his words and went to bed. In the morning, Sarah found him to be unconscious. Paramedics confirmed that he had swallowed his tongue and choked on his own vomit. Once he arrived at hospital, doctors put him into an induced coma and he is now on a life support machine at hospital in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
On Twitter, Mitch posted a statement urging Amy's fans to put the past behind them for now and pray for his recovery. He described the news as "terrible" and said "Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery." Mitch may not have seen eye to eye with Blake in the past but its encouraging that he can still wish the 30 year old well in his time of need. It is only a year since Mitch's daughter passed away; he won't want to see another tragedy occur, especially not to someone that Amy cared about.
