'The Handmaid's Tale' star Elisabeth Moss joins Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish in the cast for upcoming film 'The Kitchen'.

DC imprint Vertigo is renowned for putting out more adult content within the comic book world, allowing writers and artists to really break out of any preset boundaries that may usually restrict them. One of the most exciting series we've seen come from the publishers is 'The Kitchen', telling the story of a group of mob wives who decide to take over the business.

It's actually quite a simple idea, but one we've never really seen happen before. That's why the story is now being adapted for the big screen, with Andrea Berloff writing the script and even making her feature film directorial debut on the project.

The series will be going "even more balls to the wall".

When 'The Handmaid's Tale' hit the small screen earlier this year, only those who have read the original novel by Margaret Atwood knew what to expect. Little did anybody know it would become one of the year's biggest successes, with Elisabeth Moss front-and-centre as the oppressed Offred, working alongside the likes of brilliant talents including Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski and Max Minghella.

Now with a second season confirmed, that will consist of an entirely new story that's been influenced by the novel's original author, many are wondering exactly where Offred's story can go next, and it's something Moss has been teasing.

Moss was asked a question by one of her Instagram followers about possible similarities between Scientology and 'The Handmaid's Tale's dystopia of Gilead.

Elisabeth Moss has spoken out via her Instagram account to defend her belief in Scientology, after a fan asked her a question comparing the belief system to that of the regime in her new show, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’.

The 35 year old actress is the main star of the recent Hulu series ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, adapted from Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel. However, she was asked a question by a fan over whether ‘Gilead’, a futuristic dystopian version of America that has been taken over by a religious sect and treats all women as maids, bore any resemblance in its workings to Moss’s adherence to the Church of Scientology.

“Love this adaptation so much,” the Instagram user, called ‘moelybanks’, wrote on Wednesday (August 16th). “Question though, does it make you think twice about Scientology? Both Gilead and Scientology both believe that all outside sources (aka news) are wrong or evil… it's just very interesting.”

Margaret Atwood Will Influence 'The Handmaid's Tale' Season 2

By Daniel Falconer in Movies / TV / Theatre on 18 June 2017

Margaret Atwood Elisabeth Moss

The creator will be able to give her input during season 2 production.

Fronted by former 'Mad Men' star Elisabeth Moss, 'The Handmaid's Tale' is based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name and went into production in 2016, before hitting screens earlier this year in the UK.

Margaret Atwood will continue to work on the series

As the first collaboration between Hulu and studio MGM, the show had a lot to prove, but has managed to impress the masses throughout its first season. Set in the dystopian Gilead; a totalitarian society set in a location that was once a part of the United States, the area is ruled by a male-dominated Christian regime, where the rights of women are limited and based only on whether or not they can conceive.

Truth Trailer

Mary Mapes is the producer of CBS' '60 Minutes' and, in the run up to the 2004 presidential election, she's looking for a story for her and her team - including anchor Dan Rather - to chase. The team discovers evidence that President George W. Bush failed to complete the required amount of military service during his time in the Texas Air National Guard during the 70s. It's a story that could truly bring down the right wing government if only they can get hold of some solid documents to support the story. That's when Bill Burkett comes in; he's the former Lieutenant Colonel of the Texas Air National Guard and he claims to be in possession of some papers criticising Bush's lack of attendance for his military service, written by his commander at the time Lieutenant Colonel Jerry B. Killian. Unfortunately, in their haste to air the controversial information, the '60 Minutes' team fail to have the documents authenticated - and when several experts out the papers as forgeries, it seems the tables quickly turn on these newscasters in the most devastating way.

Listen Up Philip Trailer

Philip Lewis Friedman is a very successful writer, though not the most likeable of people. He has no shame in bragging and expressing his genius, but his persistent self-involvement starts to put quite a strain on his relationship with girlfriend Ashley. Not only that, but while the people around him are suffocating in his endless egoism, he's also finding the humdrum world of life at home particularly difficult to stomach - even without his romance issues. Soon, though, he is offered some solace when he meets his all-time favourite author Ike Zimmerman who invites him to stay with him at his country retreat and reassess his life, love and career. Will he learn to realise and appreciate the truly important things in his life? And will they even be around anymore once he has?

'Listen Up Philip' is a comedy drama which made its premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It has been directed and written by Alex Ross Perry ('The Color Wheel', 'Impolex'), and has already landed several awards at a handful of other film festivals such as Locarno International and Philadelphia Film Festival.
