Date of birth
2nd September, 1964
Keanu Reeves (born 2.9.1964) is a Canadian actor, best known for playing Neo in the film The Matrix and Ted in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey. Keanu Reeves was awarded his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame In January 2005.
Keanu Reeves was born in Beirut, in Lebanon. He was born to Patricia Taylor and Samuel Reeves Jr. His mother was a costume designer and performer and his father was a geologist. Patricia is English, whilst his father is an American, with a mixture of Portugese, Chinese and Hawaiian descent. Keanu has a sister, Kim b.1966) and two half-sisters, Karina (b.1976) and Emma (b.1980).
Keanu's father abandoned him and his mother when he was 13 and he currently has no relationship with his father.
Although Reeves was moved around a great deal during his formative years, he grew up mainly in Toronto and attended four different high schools. His educational achievements were partly held back by his dyslexia. He attended Avondale Alternative, a school that allowed him to study whilst training as an actor. However, he dropped out of this school before obtaining his high school diploma.
Keanu Reeves started acting aged nine, appearing onstage in a production of Damn Yankees. He made his screen-acting debut in the comedy series, Hangin' In.
The 1980s brought a great deal of advertisement work for Keanu, including an appearance in an ad campaign for Coca-Cola. He also appeared in a number of short films (including One Step Away) and stage performances (including the underground hit Wolf Boy).
The actor's first proper movie was Rob Lowe's Youngblood, filmed in Canada. Following the filming of the movie, he met with his manager to-be, Erwin Stoff. Stoff remains Reeves' manager to this day.
The years that followed brought a number of movie roles aimed at teenage viewers. At the end of the decade, he appeared in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, which was a surprise success, as was its 1991 sequel, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
Keen to break away from teen-film typecasting, Reeves appeared in Point Break, a high-budget action film as well as more serious independent films such as My Own Private Idaho. His co-star in this film was his close friend River Pheonix.
Reeves' career hit a new peak in 1994 upon the release of Speed, an action film in which he starred alongside Sandra Bullock. It was this film that really propelled Keanu Reeves to A-list stardom. Suprisingly to many members of the world's media, he refused to appear in the film's sequel, choosing instead to take on a theatrical role, playing Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Winnipeg theatre.
Subsequent movie appearances failed to stir the critics. Big budget releases such as Johnny Mnemonic were a commercial and critical failure, as were smaller budget film such as Feeling Minnesota, which also featured Courtney Love.
Reeves's return to grace and critical favour began with his appearance alongside Charlize Theron and Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate.
In 1999, The Matrix was released and guaranteed Reeves' position as an international star. Its sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions were also huge successes. Other films released around this time, including the horror film Constantine and the science fiction film A Scanner Darkly also received good critical reviews. His re-pairing with Sandra Bullock in The Lake House was also a box-office success.
Keanu Reeves: Music
Keanu Reeves plays bass guitar in his band Dogstar, though the band is now `in hibernation'. In 2005, Reeves announced that he was giving up his musical career.
In 1999, Keanu Reeves' girlfriend of the time, Jennifer Syme, gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. Less than two years later, Jennifer was killed in a car crash. Keanu has spoken very little about the incidents, stating only that he does not believe in the theory that everything happens for a reason.
Sometimes actors are not acting.
Sometimes acting on a movie gets way too real. Simulations can become real-life sitations - which can be both entertaining for the viewer and traumatic for the stars. Or just a big source of amusement for everyone involved. Winona Ryder recently confessed that she might genuinly be married to her 'Dracula' co-star Keanu Reeves.
The pair wed as Mina Murray and Jonathan Harker in the 1992 Francis Ford Coppola movie 'Bram Stoker's Dracula', but Winona reckons there nuptials were valid because a real Romanian priest oversaw it at a Greek Orthodox church.
Despite reports earlier this year claiming 'Bill & Ted 3' will definitely happen, Keanu Reeves has now cast doubt on the entire project.
Earlier this year, it seemed a done deal that we would be seeing Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reunite after three decades, to bring Bill and Ted back to the big screen in a third adventure, titled 'Bill And Ted Face The Music'. Dean Parisot would be serving as director, with a script in the works from original writers Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson. Fans got excited, and potential audiences awaited more news on the pair's third flick.
Details suggested that the film would see Bill and Ted as middle-aged men, with their dreams of becoming superstars and entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shattered. Having never written the greatest song ever as predicted, they'd be forced to go back in time once more alongside their daughters, in search of that tune that would allow them the fame and fortune they were always supposed to garner.

The pair return to the comedy franchise after 30 years.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are set to reunite almost three decades after their cult comedy 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' for the eagerly anticipated third installment of the franchise. Now middle-aged and without the success that they wanted, the titular duo must write a song to stop the apocalypse.

He will make an appearance in the hotel-based TV thriller coming soon.
Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his role as John Wick - though in a more brief capacity - in a forthcoming spin-off TV series entitled 'The Continental'. It follows the drama within the hotel of the same name which appears in the movies as a kind of sanctuary for assassins.
The TV series comes as part of a partnership between Starz media company and Lionsgate, and is based on the activities within a clandestine luxury hotel famous among assassins for it's no-ask no-tell policy. Keanu Reeves is an executive producer, though he will only be making an appearance in the series as opposed to being the main star.

Reeves is open to returning as Neo, with some conditions.
Keanu Reeves has discussed the possibility of returning as Neo for a fourth Matrix movie.
Reeves starred in the first film in the Wachowskis’ franchise, The Matrix, in 1999, returning for sequels The Matrix Reloaded in May 2003 and finally The Matrix Revolutions, six months later. But 13 years on fans are still wanting more from Neo.
Keanu and Laurence first met on the set of 1999's 'The Matrix' in which they starred as allies Neo and Morpheus, and they haven't worked together since until now. In the 'John Wick' sequel though, they are on separate sides with Laurence playing an evil crime lord named The Bowery King.

The re-make of '90s cult classic 'Point Break' is released on December 25th in the United States.
Earlier this year, fans of ‘90s movies were filled with a mixture of excitement and nervousness at the prospect of cult classic Point Break being remade. With the American release scheduled for December 25th, one of the movie’s stars, Luke Bracey, spoke exclusively to us about his experiences on set.
The 26 year old star was only two when the original was released, but he reassured fans that he was “very familiar” with the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, having watched it plenty of times as a teenager.
“It’s a movie I grew up with in Australia. I also grew up surfing on the beaches of Sydney, and it’s kind of handed to you with your first surfboard if you’re born in the ‘90s [laughs]. Your first surfboard and a copy of Point Break and it goes from there! So if you get an e-mail saying there’s a potential you could be Johnny Utah [Keanu Reeves’ character in the original], your eyes go wide and you get really nervous.”
