'Eddie the Eagle' made it's European premiere at the Odeon in London yesterday (March 17th 2016) and with it came a host of British stars as well as Hugh Jackman, who flew over the pond to re-unite with co-star Taron Egerton and, of course, the movie's subject Eddie Edwards himself.
The comedy biopic saw 'Kingsman' star Taron Egerton in the role of the titular Olympic ski jump legend; a man who became famous not for his exceptional talent on the slopes, but indeed for his distinct lack of such and yet overwhelming determination and perseverance that struck accord with the whole nation at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

Directed by the BAFTA nominated Dexter Fletcher ('Sunshine on Leith', 'Wild Bill') and written by Sean Macaulay and Simon Kelton in their screenwriting debuts, the film also stars the likes of Jo Hartley from 'This Is England', Keith Allen from 'Robin Hood', 'Blackadder' star Tim McInnerny and Hugh Jackman, the latter of whom plays fictitious ski coach Bronson Peary. There's even a brief a cameo from Christopher Walken.
The blue carpet was full of those involved in this award-winning drama, with former Take That singer Gary Barlow making an appearance after providing several songs for the film's soundtrack.
Then there was producer Matthew Vaughn, joined by his model wife Claudia Schiffer, and Dexter Fletcher himself who you might know less as a director, and more as an actor in 'Kick-Ass' and 'Hotel Babylon'.
Eddie Edwards - real name Michael Edwards - is recognisable these days from his appearances on the celebrity winter sports reality show 'The Jump', and indeed many of the contestants from the three seasons made themselves known at the premiere including Tamara Beckwith, Sid Owen and former pop diva Sinitta.
A few more unexpected famous faces at the event were the likes of 'Titanic' actor Billy Zane, British journalist Piers Morgan, TV nutritionist Gillian McKeith, 'Strictly Come Dancing' couple Ben Cohen and Kristina Rihanoff, pop four-piece Lawson, 'Made In Chelsea' star Kimberley Garner and 'Doctor Who' star Noel Clarke.
'Eddie the Eagle' will hit UK theatres on March 27th 2016.
