  • 26 February 2015

Imagine Dragons have scored their first number one album in the U.S.

The band's new release, Smoke + Mirrors, has roared to the top of the Billboard 200 countdown with 195,000 sales, which more than doubles the group's best sales week on the chart.

Imagine Dragons' debut album, Night Visions, is also still on the countdown, 129 weeks after its release. The group's first album has sold over 2.5 million copies in the U.S. - but it never topped the charts.

The Las Vegas-based group scored their first album chart number one in the U.K. on Sunday (22Feb15).

Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late falls a spot to two on the Billboard 200 with 187,000 sales in its second week on release, while the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack also slides a place to three.

Taylor Swift's 1989 climbs a spot to four, switching places with her pal Ed Sheeran's x, which rounds out the new top five.

Meanwhile, on the U.S. singles chart, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson have scored an eighth week at number one with Uptown Funk, as Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud stays put at two for a sixth straight week.

Ellie Goulding's Fifty Shades of Grey tune Love Me Like You Do jumps up to three, while Maroon 5's Sugar and Take Me to Church by Hozier round out the new top five.
