When he was near the point of bankruptcy, NBC signed Will Smith to a contract, and constructed the sitcom the Fresh Prince of Bel Air around him. The series also starred Tatyana Ali and James Avery and was hugely successful. His major film debut came in 1993's Six Degrees Of Separation, which also starred Donald Sutherland and Ian McKellan. He followed this up with his big screen breakthrough, Bad Boys, an action film which also starred Martin Lawrence and was a huge box office hit. In 1996, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ended. Will Smith then began focusing not only on his solo music career but also on major league blockbuster movies. In 1996, he starred as a fighter pilot in Independence Day, alongside Jeff Goldblum and Randy Quaid. Smith then went on to work alongside Tommy Lee Jones in Men In Black the year after and the film became a global success. Will Smith status as a Hollywood favourite escalated, as did his earning potential. In 1998, Will Smith starred in Enemy of the State, opposite Gene Hackman. Smith was then offered the main role of Neo in The Matrix but rejected the role in favour of the opportunity to star in Wild Wild West. The science-fiction comedy film was a flop, though Smith claims not to regret the decision and has publicly praised Keanu Reeves' performance in the Matrix films. Despite the failure of Wild Wild West, Will Smith's career took an upturn when he starred in two sequels, Men In Black II and Bad Boys II. He then took the lead role in Hitch, opposite Eva Mendes, followed by I, Robot, another science-fiction film. 2001 was a pivotal year for Will Smith, when he was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Muhammad Ali in the biopic, Ali. Five years later, he received another Oscar nomination when he played the role of Chris Gardner in The Pursuit of Happyness. The film also stars his son, Jaden Smith, as well as the actress Thandie Newton. Between 2003 and 2007, Will Smith, along with his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, worked on the sitcom All Of Us, which was loosely based on their lives. 2007 was another successful year for Will Smith when he appeared in I Am Legend, an apocalyptic science fiction film. His daughter in the film is played by his real life daughter, Willow. In 2008, he appeared in superhero movie 'Hancock' with Charlize Theron and also 'Seven Pounds' opposite Rosario Dawson, Octavia Spencer and Woody Harrelson. In 2012, he starred in 'Men in Black III' reprising his role as Agent J. The following year he appeared with his son Jayden in the sci-fi movie 'After Earth'. Get ready, fans of Bad Boys – after a decade and a half of waiting, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have confirmed their participation in a third instalment of the movie series, to be titled Bad Boys For Life.
A full 15 years on from Bad Boys 2, Martin Lawrence confirmed this week on Instagram that he’ll be returning as Marcus Burnett, alongside Will Smith’s character of Mike Lowrey.
The duo confirmed the good news in a short clip, in which Smith is heard saying: “Yo, yo. I’m telling y’all. I’m telling y’all this is crazy, wait, wait, just wait — it’s official!” and also posting a throwback picture.

1. The Area 51 Conspiracy
Initially, the US military were on board to provide the film's producers with resources such as costumes, props, airplanes and personnel, with their only demand being that all references to Area 51 be removed from the script. Of course, co-writer Dean Devlin didn't want to do that, the secret location being such an integral part of alien culture, so they ended up withdrawing their support.

The 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia in just over three weeks.
It’s been a very long time since he’s been active in his musical career, but it looks like Will Smith is going to make a comeback to rapping, with widespread reports that he’s to be involved with the official World Cup 2018 anthem this summer.
A number of reports this week, originating with Billboard, suggest that Smith is about to release a new song this Friday (May 25th) to coincide with the huge football tournament, which kicks off in a little over three weeks’ time in Russia.
The actor and sometime musician, 49, took to Instagram to tag fellow American Nicky Jam, producer Diplo and Kosovar singer Era Istrefi in a post, which was captioned “One Life to Live. Live It Up. #WorldCup”.

The critically-panned fantasy cop drama is coming back.
Netflix has greenlit a sequel to ‘Bright’, the fantasy cop drama directed by David Ayer and written by Max Landis.
The film, which cost $90 million to make, hit the streaming service in December and was immediately panned by critics and endured a roasting by viewers on Twitter.
But despite the negative press, an average of 11 million Netflix users streamed the film in its first three days of release.

Will Smith thought skydiving with his children would be a great idea for familial bonding, but he told Ellen DeGeneres that it actually felt extremely wrong at the time. So much so, that he insisted on defying physics and watching them land as well as dive.
The 49-year-old actor was on a bit of a world trip recently completing several bucket list adventures including riding in a hot air balloon in Tanzania and bungee jumping in Victoria Falls in Zambia. He also stopped over in Dubai to go skydiving, though he had done it two times before.
