The first movie kind of scared him when he was a kid.
After catching the attention of critics and fans with acclaimed performances in the TV series Kingdom and the dark dramatic film Goat, Nick Jonas is turning to action comedy with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, in which he stars alongside Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan. He has also just been nominated for a Golden Globe for his song Home from the animated movie Ferdinand.
For Jonas, his career is all about trying to avoid expectations. "I think, for me, it's just about taking strides to grow," he says. "That sort of drives the conversation and not the idea that I'm working against people's idea of what I'm trying to accomplish. And what's been great is that there's been a really warm welcome to the acting side. I think that's because the steps taken have been thought out and I've tried to make some good choices and find some great roles. But you know this next step with Jumanji and the projects I have going on feels really exciting."

The former member of the Jonas Brothers continues to get serious about acting.
Warner Bros. may not have seen the critical and commercial success they had hoped for with most recent DC Extended Universe release 'Justice League', but that doesn't mean they won't be ploughing ahead with all of the planned crime-fighting superhero flicks they've got on their slate.

It's been over twenty years since the release of the award-winning family adventure starring Robin Williams, and now Jumanji is back with an all new game - and this time, it's gone to console.
Spencer (Alex Wolff), Bethany (Madison Iseman), Fridge (Ser'Darius Blain) and Martha (Morgan Turner) are four high school kids who could not be more different from each other. Spencer's a big time geek and serious gamer, Bethany's super popular, Fridge is a jock and Martha's a bit of a social outcast. Somehow, however, they find themselves all in the same detention, and are forced to spend time with each other while cleaning out the basement.
Of course, this isn't the bonding exercise they would have expected. Pretty soon they come across a super retro computer console with a game on it called Jumanji. Bored out of their minds, they decide to play together, picking characters at random. As you can probably predict, they get sucked into the reality of the game and find themselves in the bodies of their adult avatars in the middle of a jungle.
