The duo's 2016 collaboration hit single 'Starboy' is apparently too similar to Yasminah's hit 'Hooyo'.
The French dance music hooked up with The Weekend – real name Abel Tesfaye – worked on the 2016 hit single ‘Starboy’ together, the lead single from The Weeknd’s album of the same name. Now, according to TMZ, the two artists are the subject of a reported $5 million lawsuit from Somali-American poet and singer Yasminah, who claims they ripped off her song ‘Hooyo’.
Yasmin ‘Yasminah’ Mohamed, who recorded her track way back in 2009, accuses The Weeknd and Daft Punk of “stealing the beat” for their track, as well as utilising the “same hook, same key and a similar tempo”.

The former couple, who split up almost a year and a half ago, were spotted enjoying each other's company at a Cannes party this week.
More than a year after they called off their relationship and went their separate ways, Bella Hadid and R&B singer The Weeknd are rumoured to be rekindling their romance after they were spotted kissing at Cannes this week.
The former couple were seen together sharing a kiss at the Magnum x Alexander Wang party at the Cannes Film Festival in the south of France on Thursday night (May 10th). They greeted each other with a hug and a kiss, having both arrived separately, but later they were spotted locking lips, and Hadid stroking his face.
The latest development came after they were allegedly spotted backstage together after The Weeknd’s headline set at California’s Coachella festival a few weeks ago. However, Hadid quickly moved to shut down the rumours of a reunion, saying “it wasn’t me”.
The new album dropped at midnight on Thursday night, in time for the holiday weekend.

The web of revenge and deceit seems to run deep
It seems that Katy Perry knows how to hold a grudge - following years of an alleged feud with fellow singer Taylor Swift it has now been suggested the I Kissed a Girl hitmaker went on a date with The Weeknd in revenge after his own ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, stepped out with her ex, Orlando Bloom.
The Sun reported that sources closest to the star revealed it was an act of 'revenge' after The Weeknd's ex Selena Gomez embarrassed Katy, 33, by joining her own ex Orlando Bloom for dinner one night in May while they were still together.

But she's not getting back with Justin Bieber either.
If you wondered why Selena Gomez hanging around with Justin Bieber didn't seem to be a big deal for her boyfriend The Weeknd, that might be because they've recently broken up. But don't get excited if you still ship Jelena - it doesn't look like they'll be getting back together.
Several sources have revealed that Selena and The Weeknd - real name Abel Tesfaye - have gone their separate ways after just 10 months of dating. If rumours are to be believed, it's the usual story; busy schedules and touring have just left them with no time for each other.

The 21 year old model apparently doesn't care about her ex The Weeknd dating Selena - at least according her mom Yolanda Hadid.
She and the Canadian singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, were in a relationship for more than a year before breaking up in 2016. When photos appeared back in January of him kissing Selena while on a date in L.A., she immediately unfollowed her on Instagram before posting a photo of herself flipping the bird.
That was ten months ago, though, and Bella is now reportedly over it – or at least she is according to her mom, Yolanda Hadid. The former ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star appeared on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen, and the host asked whether Bella still “cares that The Weeknd is with Selena Gomez?”

This year’s event is set to take place from July 7th-9th in North London’s Finsbury Park. Tickets are currently on sale for the 2017 edition of the festival, with further acts still to be announced.
It'll be the first time the Robots have performed live since the 2014 Grammys, and will surely fuel more speculation that Daft Punk are planning a 2017 world tour.
The robotic duo teamed up with the Canadian singer for his recently released album Starboy, performing with him on the title track as well as ‘I Feel It Coming’.
