Rihanna has been announced to appear at the season finale of this year's American Idol competition, the 23 year-old having appeared on the show twice previously, reports The Hollywood Reporter. One of the biggest pop stars on the planet, RiRi's appearance is sure to show the four finalists - Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez- the benchmark needed to truly make it in the pop world.
Rihanna seems to have never left us this year, despite the rare occurrence of her not releasing an album thus far in 2012. She made headlines in February after collaborating with abusive ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, calling a truce with him despite the details coming out that he'd attacked her for a sustained 45 minutes on that famous night in 2008. Then in March she was spotted hanging out at Coachella Festival with Katy Perry.
Most recently on TV she performed on 'Saturday Night Live' a performance of 'Where Have You Been', which saw the singer in some pretty elaborate staging for the NBC series. In what could well have been a homage to late pop great Michael Jackson, she came out dressed as some sort of Egyptian queen, and started out reclining in a pile of leopard print pillows before a group of shrouded dancers surrounded her. Jacko fans may remember a similar theme during his Eddie Murphy-starring video for 'Do You Remember The Time?'
