Country star Keith Urban might not be on the next season of American Idol, but at least he's not dwelling too much on it because in the meantime the singer has announced that he's heading into the studio for a new album. The singer plans to bring out the work-in-progress Fuse, the follow-up to 2010's Get Closer, in September this year. He didn't get specific on the date, but did seem fairly confident of a fall release.

The singer revealed the news on Tuesday (May 28) to USA Today, detailing the album name and release details in a statement that said he is finding the album-making-process as a "liberating" and "creative" one. He went on to say, "I don't know why that is, because I've always been fortunate enough to make the records I want to make. I think just working with other people has just been a really enjoyable thing."

Urban went on to discuss the album layout, estimating that the album will feature up to 16 songs, and collaborators. He will be teaming up with the more pop-friendly production techniques of Butch Walker on some songs, as well as regular studio-whiz Nathan Chapman and a selection of other well-known country producers.

The New Zealand-born singer has yet to premiere any of his new material just yet, but fans of his may have something new to look forward to if they're heading to his upcoming 'Light the Fuse World Tour 2013'. The singer will begin the festival in Cincinnati on July 18.
