The final title competition on Fox's American Idol attracted 11.57 million viewers Wednesday night, and while that was well below previous performance finales -- it was off 29 percent from just a year ago -- it was Nevertheless enough to draw the biggest audience of the night among total adults and set up a strong lead-in for the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance, which drew 7.11 million viewers. However, with a 3.5 rating and a 10 share among viewers 18-49, ABC's Modern Family at 9:00 p.m. held the title as the most-watched show among younger viewers Wednesday night.
