It was Billy Joel night on American Idol last night, with probably the biggest embarrassment of the night not actually going to any of the performers but to judge Steven Tyler, introduced at the beginning of the night by Ryan Seacrest as an expert on Joel and who has shared a stage with the great man, being introduced as his "old friend" on one particular YouTube clip. Tyler also threatened the singers, "if you can't sing Billy Joel, you can't sing at all," but then couldn't recognise Joel classic 'She's Got A Way' when performed by Joshua Ledet, according to The Los Angeles Times.
In fairness to Tyler, the rendition given by Joshua wasn't exactly the most shining representation of the track, the singer taking a back seat to the night's star performers including Phillip Phillips - who performed a stunning version of 'Moving Out' - Elise Testone who did a sultry take on 'Vienna,' Jessica Sanchez with her cover of 'Everybody Has A Dream' and Colton Dixon who sang 'Piano Man.'
