Ousted American Idol contestant COREY CLARK has hit out at the reality TV show - insisting he was exploited to boost ratings.

Clark was thrown off the talent show earlier this month (APR03), after it was discovered he faces assault charges against his 15-year-old sister.

Clark, 22, faces trial over an incident at his family home last October (02).

American network Fox was tipped off after details of the alleged assault were leaked to the press.

But furious Clark says he was assured he had a chance to remain on the show after the news emerged.

He says, "I was told that depending on how I handled the situation and helped them get through it, that I still had a chance to be on the show."

But, according to Clark, co-executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told him an hour later that Fox wanted him off the show.
