American Idol received over 55 million votes in the last 24 hours to send Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo home.
American Idol judges were stunned on last night's results show, as the heavily tipped Thia Megia was sent home after the show had received over 55 million votes, reports the UK's Daily Mail. The top eleven has now been narrowed down to the top nine, with the likes of Casey Abrams making it safely through to next week's show despite finding himself in the bottom two last Thursday. The producers of 'Idol' decided to shelve the group performance which usually kicks off the results show, instead choosing to pair up the contestants for several duo performances. After each duet, the singing hopefuls were informed whether or not they were in the bottom three. Scotty Mccreery and Lauren Alaina began with a relaxed version of 'I Told You So' and received a standing ovation from the judges. Hayley Reinhart, Pia Toscano and Thia Megia performed a well-received rendition of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream', however, the 14-year-old was later voted off the show along with Naima Adedapo.
Elsewhere on last night's American Idol, former winner Fantasia Barrino returned to perform her new single and Will.I.AM and Jamie Foxx also performed their new track 'Hot Wings'.
