All eight contestants remain in 'American Idol' after the judges decided to use their save on Thursday night's show (3rd April).
There are no more second chances left for the remaining contestants on American Idol after the judges decided to use their save on Thursday night (3rd April). After strong performances on the previous show, it was certainly going to be an evening of drama and possible dissent amongst the judges.
Randy Jackson correctly predicted the five to gain the public's support and not enter the bottom three.
However, eight contestants are still remaining after the judges were unable to decide who should be eliminated when the bottom three - Malaya Watson, Sam Woolf and C.J. Harris - battled it out to remain in the competition.
Randy Jackson predicted correctly the five contestants who would remain safe and would not face elimination. Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts and Jena Irene all received strong public support and were not faced with the bottom three sing off. As usual, Roberts was the first one to be saved with Irene soon following with her typical humble shock. Her humility is certainly keeping her popular with the voting public.
Jennifer Lopez announced the judges had "unanimously" decided to use their save.
Unfortunately for Sam Woolf, he is still not comfortable with the role his mentor and the judges are attempting to force him into, namely teen heartthrob. His performance of Ed Sheeran's 'Lego House' on Wednesday (2nd April) evidently did not impress the voters even with the occasional sultry looks he threw at the camera. Whilst singing in the bottom three on Thursday, he performed David Gray's 'Babylon' to great effect as Jennifer Lopez announced the judges were "unanimous" in their decision to use the save.
As if to spur on the contestants, there was a special performance from a previous season's finalist. Daughtry performed 'Waiting for Superman'. The band's frontman, Chris Daughtry, was a finalist on season five of American Idol and one of Jackson's former mentees. Daughtry has since forged a successful career as part of the band who recently announced they would be touring this summer with the Goo Goo Dolls.
With no save left next week and all eight finalists are in danger of heading home, but will the judges' decision to save Woolf be in vain?
