Paul Potts – the man who rose from his workaday life to win Britain’s Got Talent and record the album One Chance, which topped sales charts in nine countries – is played by James Corden in ‘One Chance’ for which you can see the trailer for below.

Potts was born into working class life in South Gloucestershire, and didn’t enjoy the most liberating of childhoods. As the trailer depicts, he was bullied over his weight and desire to sing, not just by his school friends, but by his father and adult peers, too.

The former Carphone Warehouse store manager is joined by a brilliant cast, including Julie Walters, Colm Meaney and Mackenzie Crook. Simon Cowell is a producer on the movie, which was made by his production house Syco Entertainment in collaboration with The Weinstein Company.

Directing this rags to riches story is David Frankel, the man behind Marley & Me, Hope Springs and The Devil Wears Prada. You’ll also be able to see cameos from producer Cowell and Amanda Holden.

“As long as I can remember I’ve wanted to sing. But not everyone loved the sound of my voice as much as my mum did and I got teased and bullied. It was a seemingly endless drama of singing and violence – kind of like an opera – the opera of my life,” says Corden in the trailer.

Bring tissues, as someone’s likely to cry: One Chance is due for release on October 25th.
