Amanda Bynes is ''getting along'' with her parents again.

The 28-year-old actress, who repeatedly lashed out at Rick and Lynn Bynes on social media last year after being placed under her mother's care via a temporary conservatorship for the second time in October, is also ''much happier'' than she was a couple of months ago.

A source close to the 'Easy A' star said: ''Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago. She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.''

The troubled starlet's lawyer David Esquibias confirmed she is currently living on her own and also told PEOPLE.com: ''Amanda is doing well.''

Lynn was first granted legal control over her daughter's welfare and finances in August 2013 after she set fire to a driveway, and a judge ruled on Tuesday (24.02.15) that the conservatorship will remain in place until the next hearing on June 23.

Amanda, who was released from a psychiatric facility in October after less than a month of treatment, was first arrested for Driving Under the Influence [DUI] in 2012, but avoided jail time by completing inpatient treatment and was placed on three years' probation in early 2014.

The troubled actress was also arrested for a DUI in the early hours of September 28, 2014 but the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office recently opted not to press charges ''after much deliberation and review.''
