Actress Alyssa Milano has opened up about the "hurt" she felt after Jay Mohr poked fun at her curvy figure during a pre-Christmas radio chat.

The Jerry Maguire star hosted the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards gala in Las Vegas on 6 December (13) and revealed he was surprised by attendee Milano's look at the event.

He said, "She's very tiny, in height... It seems like she had a baby and said, 'I don't really give a s**t'...' I read it on her gut."

Milano, who gave birth to son Milo in August, 2011, responded in a Christmas Day (25Dec13) tweet, writing, "@jaymohr37 So sorry you felt the need to publicly fat-shame me. Be well and God Bless. Please send my love to your beautiful wife."

Mohr has since taken to Twitter to explain he meant his comments as a joke, writing, "She's (Milano) stunning. I mistakenly thought the absurdity of what I was saying would have been taken as a joke."

But Milano now admits the funnyman's comments really stung.

She tells U.S. news show Extra, "I just think he was trying to make a joke and not think about it, but I heard it actually on Christmas Day and it hurt me; I was affected by it and I wanted to remind him that I'm a human being and that this hurts."

She adds, "I think it's an interesting statement about where we are socially that people feel that they can sort of rip a woman's body apart after having a baby. I think we've plastered these celebrities on tabloids about how much weight they gained during their pregnancy and how quickly they lose it afterwards and so it's sort of, unfortunately, everyone's fair game and I don't think it's fair.

"I gained 55 pounds when I was pregnant; I still have 10 more to lose."
