AlunaGeorge, Tom Odell and Laura Mvula make up the shortlist for the BRITs Critics' Choice Award 2013.
One of the up-and-coming acts will be crowned the next big thing in British music later this month, following in the footsteps of previous winners Adele, Florence + the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J.
Laura, 22, said of her nomination: ''I don't think I've experienced this kind of shock before. It's such a huge honour to be included in this prestigious shortlist, I don't think that I can put it in to words.''
Laura is classically trained and started writing songs on her laptop computer while working as a supply teacher in Birmingham.
Tom, 22, studied at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, and made his TV debut on 'Later ... With Jools Holland' last month.
He said: ''I feel privileged to be in the same company as previous nominees of the caliber of Adele, Emeli Sande and Michael Kiwanuka.''
AlunaGeorge - comprised of producer George Reid and singer Aluna Francis - have a 90s influenced sound mixing soul, pop and electronics with Aluna's distinctive vocals to create a highly acclaimed sound.
They said: ''We both feel incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for this award. It's a great feeling to have our music recognised in such a big way.''
The winner of the Critics' Choice Award will be announced on December 20.
