British singer Alison Moyet is to receive a special prize at the upcoming Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards in the U.K. in honour of her career achievements.

The former Yazoo star will pick up the Icon Award at this year's (13) London ceremony, which raises money for the charity's scheme to provide music therapy to vulnerable adults and children across the U.K.

Moyet says of the honour, "I've admired their work for many years and it feels really special to be recognised by them as an 'icon'."

Her friend, actress Dawn French, who asked Moyet to perform at her recent wedding, will present the award.

The Silver Clef Awards, which will take place at the London Hilton hotel on 28 June (13), will also honour Bee Gees star Barry Gibb with a lifetime achievement trophy, and singer/songwriter Labrinth will be given the Innovation Award.
