R&B star Alicia Keys called on her fans to show their support for the fight against Aids by joining a protest in New York on Wednesday (08Jun11).
The No One hitmaker has long championed the cause and spoke at a United Nations event on Tuesday (07Jun11), ahead of a crucial discussion between world leaders to outline their plans for battling the global pandemic over the next decade.
And Keys rounded up her Twitter.com followers to take part in the March to End Aids on Wednesday morning. The peaceful protest started at Manhattan's Bryant Park and ended outside the U.N. headquarters, where the General Assembly meeting was due to take place.
Urging followers to join the street march, she posted a note on her social networking blog, which read, "World leaders r (sic) meeting in Nyc 2day (sic) to adopt a new declaration to reaffirm commitments to fight global Aids. Join the march in Bryant Park!"
