Pop star Alicia Keys joined forces with chart-topping Asian singers to host a charity MTV extravaganza in Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday (03FEB05) to raise cash for tsunami survivors.

The R+B beauty compered the MTV ASIA AID event, introducing a wide variety of artists ranging from international acts Linkin Park, Ronan Keating, KELLY CLARKSON and Good Charlotte to Thailand's TATA YOUNG, Taiwan's Jay Chou and ASHA BHOSLE from India.

Organised as a one-off replacement event for the annual Asia music awards, MTV offered the show free to broadcasters around the world in a drive to raise as much money as possible to benefit those affected by the 26 deadly December (04) tidal wave.

The all-day show in Thailand - one of the countries worst hit by the tragedy - also featured taped messages from Jennifer Lopez, Sting, Nelly, 50 CENT, Green Day and Ricky Martin, urging tourists to continue holidaying in south east Asia.
