Resident Evil 6: The Final Chapter Trailer

Milla Jovich takes to the screen as the badass undead slayer, Alice, in Resident Evil 6; the final instalment of the hugely successful film series.

Over the course of the five previous movies, Racoon City found itself being overrun by the undead who have been infected by a mutant virus that originated thanks a deadly vile being stolen from a corporation known as The Hive Corporation who manufacture genetic material. The virus was so strong that it was unable to be contained to one city; it soon spread to the far reaches of the world.

After The Umbrella corporation witness Alice's apparent powers, they decide to modify her (whilst she's in a coma and without her consent) and also take samples of her DNA to hopefully clone. Alice’s mission takes her to different parts of the world and as she learns of the clones, the war between the undead and the soldiers working with Umbrella deepen and Alice’s main aim is to find a safe haven for survivors to retreat to.

Final Destination 2 Review

Bad
For all of you budding screenwriters, here is a simple set of guidelines to help you pen the next Final Destination film (yes, there will probably be another, even if it's direct-to-video): First, devise really hideous, graphic ways for people to die -- five or six deaths should do it. Second, tie the gruesomeness together by having paper-thin characters explain the plot -- the grim reaper gives chase to those who've cheated death -- over and over again. Lastly, keep the dialogue simple and void of any entertaining qualities, relying on devices like flipping the bird for big laughs.

That, in summary, is all of Final Destination 2, the generally bland follow-up to the far more likable original from 2000. Here, instead of a clairvoyant teenage boy having visions of a plane explosion, there's an equally clairvoyant teenage girl getting a premonitory look at a massive highway pileup. Director (and former stunt expert) David R. Ellis (Homeward Bound II), and first-time screenwriters J. Mackye Gruber and Eric Bress really don't get much more creative than that, instead leaning on the concept of the original to get them through.

Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back Review

OK
It's time to say "goodbye," according to Kevin Smith, to his token recurring characters -- the C3PO and R2-D2 of the local Quick Stop -- Jay (Jason Mewes) and Silent Bob (Kevin Smith). Since their inception as two stoner losers hanging out in front of the local Quick Stop "smokin' blunts and kickin' asses" in Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob have received ever expanding roles in Smith's later features -- Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma. But when these two guys showed up in a cameo in Scream 3, that was the moment when they "jumped the shark" (aka lost their unique appeal and devolved into would-be Happy Meal figurines). I wouldn't be surprised if two 10-foot tall character replicants greeted all guests at Miramax's HQ.

If you looking for a plot in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, don't bother. Smith uses the safe convention of repetition by including certain key locations of his first three films and all of their main characters -- minus Dogma. By doing this, Smith creates a familiar universe for Jay and Silent Bob to venture through and trick the audience into remembering their old favorites and ignore the throwaway script.

Final Destination Review

Weak

"Final Destination" begins with an unusually fresh and amply terrifying scene in which a nondescript horror movie prototeen (Devon Sawa) has a vivid, realistic, and special effects-laden premonition that the 747 he's just boarded will explode on take-off.

In his vision, the cabin shakes violently, overhead compartments blast open and passengers scramble desperately for dropping air masks just before a fireball rips down the aisles. To the audience, it feels like the theater seats have been transported onboard the quaking airliner.

Snapped awake in a sweat from his incubus, Sawa ("Idle Hands") flips out and bolts for the exit. When his friends try to calm him down, they all get dragged off the plane and left in the terminal where they watch helplessly as -- you guessed it -- the jet goes kaplewy in mid-air, killing everyone aboard.
