The singer, whose mother is model Christie Brinkley, performs her version in a new jeans commercial for Gap, and she admits she was wracked with nerves at the idea of reworking such an iconic track.
Her famous father even offered to help her jazz up the tune - but the 27 year old politely declined.
She tells U.S. talk show host Katie Couric, "It was a little scary at first and then I thought, 'Ok, I really need to make this my own and put my stamp on it.'
"As soon as I sat down and started playing it, Dad was there and he was like, 'Well you know, you need rhythm, you need to make it catchy'. I said, 'No, I want to make it broken down and give it my own energy and vibe', and he said, 'Wow, you're really taking it and making it your own.'"
