Alex Band, of The Calling, was beaten badly around walking around Michigan at 4am.
Sources connected to the situation tell TMZ.com that the singer was in Lapeer, Michigan, for a musical festival and decided to walk from his hotel to a nearby mini-mart around 4am on Sunday morning (August 22, 2013).
During the stroll, a van pulled up alongside Alex and he was thrown inside and beaten to a pulp. The abductors proceeded to drive the singer to some nearby train tracks and dump him right on top of them.
Luckily, another member of the group noticed that the 32-year-old had gone missing that assembled a search party, discovering him a short time later. Alex survived the incident, though his current condition is unclear.
Law enforcements sources say officials are currently investigating.
The Calling got pretty big in 2001 with their pop-rock track Wherever You Will Go which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100. However, they split up soon after. The band had only just reunited, which makes the whole thing worse really. They intend to release new material next year and recently performed their biggest hit on Extra TV.
Everyone here at Contactmusic.com wishes Alex a speedy recovery. We'll let you know of any updates as soon as we get them.
