The 30 Rock star and his partner, Hilaria, were among the mourners who gathered in New York City to pay their last respects to The Sopranos legend, who died in Italy last month (Jun13).
Baldwin later flew into a rage over an article published on the Daily Mail's website which suggested Hilaria had been posting messages on Twitter.com throughout the service.
Hilaria denied the accusation, while Baldwin argued his wife did not even bring a phone into the church, and now a spokesperson for the Daily Mail has blamed the error on a technical glitch with Twitter timestamps.
A statement posted on the publication's website reads, "We accept Mrs Baldwin's assertions that she did not Tweet from the funeral and apologise for any distress caused. But this was a genuine misunderstanding caused by a baffling defect in the Twitter platform."
Baldwin has also apologised for using gay slurs in his online rant against the journalist who wrote the piece, insisting, "My ill-advised attack on George Stark of the Daily Mail had absolutely nothing to do with issues of anyone's sexual orientation... As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologise."
The actor and his wife put the matter behind them by heading to New York's Hamptons to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Sunday (30Jun13).
