Tyler Ramsey A Long Dream About Swimming Across The Sea Album

You might know multi-instrumentalist Tyler Ramsey for his work with Band Of Horses, he's currently their guitarist. Tyler Ramsey could sit quite comfortably next to Mark Kozelek on Sun Kil Moon plus a healthy beard, his music is works on acoustically built songs with floating anthemic qualities. You could imagine Band Of Horses using a similar formula but then they add electricity to the mix.

Where Band of Horses and Tyler Ramsey's solo material differ is, A Long Dream About Swimming Across The Sea is full of elegant simplicity that comes off quite effortless the pure exquisiteness that recollects America at their lush best.

Tyler's vocals burst full of emotion, and projected in such a way it makes his voice an aching and very human instrument. The music's got a mix of lots of American styles, folk, rock, southern country, blues, Ramsey seems fully open to adding different styles, anything that will complete the sound he's trying to capture. A Long Dream About Swimming Across The Sea is most appreciated in sequential run-through. I loved the Bon Iver album but when listened to in this manor this album is better in almost every way.

Rating 9/10
