The Coronas Heroes Or Ghost Album

Formerly known as Kiros, The Coronas have already achieved considerably recognition in their homeland of Ireland and now bring their debut album to the rest of us. They have been selected to open the main stage at Oxegen this year and will also be gracing Spain's Benicassim event.

Imagine yourself to be on a messy weekend in Dublin - a stag or hen do perhaps - and wondering into a local bar. On stage would be an act like The Coronas who put together a lovely blend of indie and pub rock that can get you up for a dance where you end up wearing more of your Guinness than you do drinking it. The quality guitar hooks of 'Grace, Don't Wait!' and 'Make A Change' certainly set this outfit out from regular bar entertainment, while 'San Diego Song' is particularly spirited. The title track 'Heroes And Ghosts' displays an impressive fragile direction to the band and 'The Joker' is a stirring piano ballad, but before things get too serious the breezy tone of 'Decision Time' whisk your ears away.

It may not be quite outstanding, but there are enough bright moments to make this record worth checking out and seeing how this quartet develops.
