Kill Hannah Wake Up The Sleepers Album

Having never heard of this band before they turned up neatly packaged on my doorstep, I was apprehensive as I gently placed the CD into the player and listened to it spin up. Greeting me sonically came the Silversun Pickups sounding lead singer making his presence gently felt across the first track, Radio, and I knew that we were onto a winner. Queen-esque key changes and huge, awesome (in the true sense of the word) melodic shifts play across the record and mean that every song has a stunning hook, a part that makes you want to loop it over and over again.

The talent on display here is obvious yet reserved; quiet pinch harmonics pepper tracks such as the Jimmy Eat World at their best Snowblinded and the dancey New York City Speed. Lyrically the band aren't amazing, there's a bit of cheese in tracks like Living In Misery, but it's easily forgivable considering the wealth of brilliance that resonates through the majority of the songs.

In spite of the occasional shortcomings lyrically (listening to Living In Misery really is quite embarrassing), songs like Strobe Lights and especially Mouth To Mouth are actually stunning- it makes you wonder what the other bands in this genre are doing. Listening to Wake Up The Sleepers makes you feel like you've accomplished something with your day and is massively recommended to anyone.

First let me say how happy i am that you loved Kill Hannah and Wake Up The Sleepers. I loved your review its one of the better ones ive read. So kudos:] To anyone who is a new fan and loves Kill Hannah's new album please please please do yourself a favor and see them live. Ive seen them three times last month and they never cease to amaze me. This album is simply beautiful. I've listened to it every single day since its release date in September. I suggest listening to it at full volume in the car while speeding on the highway. Theres no other feeling like it. Its strange for me to find an album THIS AMAZING. With Wake Up The Sleepers though it really is on repeat and your either rocking out, dancing, or crying. Theres a song for your every mood. Mat Devine. I can not say enough wonderful things about this man. He is my hero. I will say that his lyrics are deep and emotional, and his voice is like an angel. The guys killed it on this one. Im so proud of them and all the hard work that went into creating this album.

Great review of a great cd! Wake Up the Sleepers is energetic and inspirational to listen to. Kill Hannah is one of the most talented, yet under-rated, bands out there. I hope more people will check out Wake Up the Sleepers, it's well worth the time!

I can't agree more! This band has so much more to offer as well, try giving one their older albums a spin! They have been around since before Silver Sun Pick Ups...and they sound better live.
