Alanis Morissette has unveiled her latest album at an intimate gig for media and competition winners. According to Rolling Stone, "a few hundred" people were packed into an over-heated room, the size of a "nice-sized living room." Pretty nice living room if you can fit a few hundred people in it, we reckon! Alanis debuted a number of songs off of Havoc and Bright Lights, during a two hour event, which was punctuated by an interview with Phil Gallo of Billboard.
Gallo spoke to her about recording the new album and some of the fans took advantage of the intimate setting to chip in. When she was asked about the writing and recording process, she said "I put my helmet on and hope for the best." And as she added, "I don't know if I should get into . . . " one of the fans piped up "Yeah, get into it!" Possibly in reference to one of the tracks from her new album, entitled 'Woman Down,' Morissette also spoke about feminism in the modern world and said "This is a great time to be alive as a woman, especially an alpha woman. Artists are social activists, whether we want to be or not. I think parenting is the biggest activism there is on the planet."
After the interview had ended, Alanis treated her dedicated fans to a number of acoustic renditions of her songs, including one of her biggest hits, 'Hand In My Pocket, during which she also played the harmonica, to huge applause.
