Singer Alan Jackson has helped officials at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum to raise more than $56 million (£35 million) to fund the building's planned expansion.
The country star joined Ricky Skaggs at the first public fundraiser in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday (28Jul11) and event organisers are already hailing the success of the campaign after a bumper kick-off which included a $6.5 million (£4 million) gift from Hall of Fame board chairman, Steve Turner.
The fundraising target is $75 million (£46.9 million).
The proposed extension will add a classroom, an 800-seat theatre and a whole new exhibition space to the current venue.
