Jones Reaches Divorce Settlement With Reynolds

Star Jones Reynolds Al Reynolds

U.S. TV personality Star Jones has settled her divorce from her husband of nearly four years, Al Reynolds.

The former The View talk show host, 46, filed for divorce on 26 March (08) at Manhattan's Supreme Court in New York, and it was subsequently labelled an "uncontested matrimonial" case by officials.

According to the New York Post, the settlement came just moments before the pair was set to appear in court.

A source tells the newspaper Reynolds was allegedly upset with the prenuptial agreement he signed, leaving him "basically nothing," though he relented to avoid higher court costs.

U.S. TV personality Star Jones has filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Al Reynolds.

The former The View talk show host, 46, filed the notice on 26 March (08) at Manhattan's Supreme Court in New York, which was subsequently labelled an "uncontested matrimonial" case by officials.

In a statement released to U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight, Jones says: "Several years ago I made an error in judgment by inviting the media into the most intimate area of my life. A month ago I filed for divorce.

"The dissolution of a marriage is a difficult time in anyone's life that requires privacy with one's thoughts. I have committed myself to handling this situation with dignity and grace and look forward to emerging from this period as a stronger and wiser woman."

Reynolds To Sue Over Divorce Rumours?

Al Reynolds The View

Former talk show host STAR JONES REYNOLDS has rubbished reports her marriage to Al Reynolds is on the rocks, and is threatening legal action against those responsible for spreading the rumours.
Reynolds, who made headlines when she abruptly quit US talk show The View in June (06), is battling reports that appeared Wednesday in a New York City tabloid claiming her marriage is falling apart.
Her representative tells American publication People that there is no truth to the divorce rumours.
Reynolds publicist issued a statement saying, "These categorically false stories and their continuation are clearly being generated by someone for vindictive reasons alone."
The statement goes on to say that the couple's "legal representatives have been investigating the source and motivation of these boldfaced lies for some time now and are very close to exposing the individual who has perpetrated them. At which time, appropriate legal action will be taken."
Reynolds and her husband married in 2004 in an elaborate ceremony that included the bride's arrival at the church in a horse-drawn carriage.

Jones Reynolds Refutes Walters' Rating Claims

The View Barbara Walters ABC Al Reynolds

LATEST: US TV presenter STAR JONES REYNOLDS has hit back at former The View co-host Barbara Walters' claim she was 'fired' from the show due to poor individual ratings.
Walters, 74, was stunned when Jones Reynolds, 44, told viewers and her fellow presenters she would be leaving the ABC program after nine years yesterday morning (27JUN06), because the announcement was planned for Thursday (29JUN06).
Walters, who created and produces the show, said, "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could - up until this morning when I was betrayed - to protect her.
"I would have loved for Star to have left and not said 'I was fired,' and not make it look like the program was somehow being cruel to her."
Walters admits ABC network bosses declined to renew Jones Reynolds' contract after research reportedly showed audiences were turned off by the former lawyer's dramatic weight loss and her 2004 marriage to Al Reynolds, where she plugged companies on air in exchange for freebies for her wedding.
Walters adds, "We tried to talk them out of it and we tried to give Star time to redeem herself in the eyes of the audience, and the research just kept getting worse."
Jones Reynold's representative BRAD ZEIFMAN hits back, telling the New York Daily News, "This was never brought to Star's attention.
"To the contrary, in November Star was told by executive producers that there's no truth to the tabloid rumours and that they were happy with her performance ratings and had no issues or concerns."

Walters 'Betrayed' By Jones Reynolds

US TV veteran Barbara Walters feels "betrayed" by her The View co-host STAR JONES REYNOLDS following her shock on-air announcement of her departure from the talk show.
Walters, 74, was stunned when Jones Reynolds, 44, told viewers and her fellow presenters she would be leaving the ABC program after nine years yesterday morning (27JUN06), because the announcement was planned for Thursday (29JUN06).
Speaking to camera, Jones Reynolds said, "Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as co-host next year."
And in this week's (ends30JUN06) issue of People magazine, Jones Reynolds says, "What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season. I feel like I was fired."
Walters, who created and produces the show, says, "I love Star and I was trying to do everything I possibly could - up until this morning when I was betrayed - to protect her.
"I would have loved for Star to have left and not said 'I was fired,' and not make it look like the program was somehow being cruel to her."
