Al Pacino's hit gangster flick Scarface is to resurface on big screens
across America this month (SEP03) - to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
UNIVERSAL are releasing the picture - about a Cuban immigrant who becomes
a kingpin in the illicit drug trade - in several city cinemas before the
revamped edition, featuring digital sound, is available on DVD.
The film's re-emergence follows a recent trend in Hollywood of
re-releasing movies to help promote DVD sales.
Despite being met with mixed reviews upon its release in 1983, Scarface
has gained the status of a cult movie which continues to be discovered by new
generations of film enthusiasts.
Universal's JACK FOLEY says, "Scarface has really stood the test of time.
It's remarkable to realise the depth of its impact."
