Jazz star Al Jarreau has been forced to cancel three shows in France as he continues to battle pneumonia.
The 72 year old axed a concert in California last month (May12) after he was hospitalised and later diagnosed with the potentially deadly lung condition, but he assured fans he would soon be back to work.
However, Jarreau's plans to be back on stage in France this week (beg04Jun12) have been scrapped on doctors' orders.
He has cancelled a planned appearance at the Jazzellerault Festival in Chatellerault, France on Thursday (07Jun12), as well as gigs in Bordeaux and Paris next weekend (09-10Jun12).
A spokesperson for the star says in a statement, "He was so happy with the idea of playing before a new audience at (the Jazzellerault Festival) in Chatellerault, where he has never played (before)... He apologises to fans... and all those who have purchased tickets for these concerts."
Jarreau hopes to resume his tour in Orleans, France on 28 June (12).
