Checco passed away peacefully at his Studio City, California home on Sunday (19Jul15), just two days before his 94th birthday.

Over the course of more than five decades, Checco appeared in an impressive number of film and TV roles.

On the small screen, he appeared on shows such as Batman, Mister Ed, The Munsters, Bonanza, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Rockford Files, TV film Helter Skelter, Knight Rider, Becker, and his final credit, Scrubs.

His film work included roles in Hotel, Bullitt, The Terminal Man, Angel in My Pocket Pete's Dragon, and Zero to Sixty.

Checco was also a longtime friend of legendary actor Don Knotts, whom he met serving for the U.S. Army during World War II. They were enlisted to entertain troops on the front lines throughout the Pacific.

Upon their return to the States, Checco went on to guest star opposite his friend in a couple of episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, as well as films The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, The Reluctant Astronaut and How to Frame a Figg.
