UK hip-hop star Sway has become the first European artist to be signed by Grammy-nominated R 'n' B artist Akon.
Mobo-winner Sway has joined Akon's Kon Live and Konvict Muzik roster and will now receive US distribution alongside the likes of T-Pain and Kardinal Offishall.
Though Sway's material will still be distributed via his own Dcypha Productions outlet in the UK and Europe, his new multi-album deal with Akon's label will see the Hornsey-born artist benefiting from worldwide exposure.
The release date of Sway's new album Signature has now been pushed back until October 6th to include Silver & Gold, a collaboration with Akon which had been postponed until contract negotiations were completed.
A Mobo winner in 2005, Sway took the best hip-hop act ahead of high-profile rappers 50 Cent and the Game while he also took the best UK hip-hop act prize at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards in 2006.
