The 38-year-old Bollywood star's good news was revealed by her husband Abhishek Bachchan, who took to his twitter account to announce the little one's arrival earlier this morning (16.11.11), by writing: "IT'S A GIRL!!!!!! :-))))) (sic)."
The 35-year-old Indian actor then revealed the brunette beauty and the pair's new arrival - who was delivered at the Seven Hills Hospital in the Mumbai, India - are "doing great", but he was "too excited" to sleep.
He tweeted: "Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Both Aishwarya and the baby are doing great and taking some much needed rest....
"And I'm trying my level best to get rid of this caffeine high and get some sleep too. Don't think it'll work. TOO EXCITED!!!! (sic)".
Abhishek's father, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, also conveyed his joy on the social networking site.
He wrote: "I am Dada to the cutest baby girl".
