SPIDER-MAN's Journey from comic book to movies to Broadway took another ill-fated turn Monday night when, seven minutes before the end of the performance of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark , a stunt double for the title character fell about 10 feet and was seriously injured and equipment hanging above the audience also crashed down, although it apparently injured no one. The performer, identified as Christopher Tierney, was taken by ambulance to Bellevue Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. It was the fourth such accident that has plagued the $65-million production. The Associated Press reported that Tierney is the show's main aerialist, performing stunts not only for the Spider-Man character but also for two villains. New York magazine's Vulture blog said that After The Fall an audience member tweeted "Spider-Man on Broadway. Stopped short near end. Someone took nasty fall. Screaming. 911 called. No idea what happened, kicked audience out." The show is currently in previews. It was to have had its official premiere on Jan. 11, but last Friday, the opening date was reset to Feb. 7.
