Adele’s year has been pretty phenomenal so far; she’s landed a Golden Globe, an Oscar and a number one hit, with her Bond theme, Skyfall. Now, though, this are set to take an even better turn for Adele, it seems, Rumor has it that Adele, along with US star Beyonce, has been asked to perform at Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday party at the White House, the Daily Mail have reported.

Adele looks set to perform at the high profile birthday bash, which will take place on January 17. A source told the Daily Mail “America’s First Lady will be holding a huge celebrity-packed party for her birthday at the White House next year and, as she adores Adele and Beyonce, she has asked them both to sing. Adele has graciously accepted and waived her usual fee for the high-profile private performance. She will sing a selection of her most-loved hits for the First Lady and her friends.”

And for any one that’s up in arms about state money being spent on Adele’s personal expenses, worry not. The party is a private affair and not a state one, so the Obamas will be coughing up out of their own pockets.

Adele isn’t rushing to make too many public appearances just now; she recently gave birth to her first baby and her appearance at this year’s Oscars was just the second time that she has sung live in public since Angelo was born in October 2012. With such a huge global profile, of course, she can pick & choose her live performances and singing for the First Lady of the USA is a pretty big deal, so we’re hardly surprised she snapped up the opportunity to perform along with Beyonce.
